What you see.
What you trust.

A photo, an account or a short video can create a convincing impression. Try four activities and discuss what you base your judgements about content on.

Choose an activity

You can do one activity or try them all. Questions and explanations are in English.

01 / IMAGES

Cats: real or AI-generated?

Find the two real photos among ten images. How much can you trust your first impression?

02 / ACCOUNTS

Checking Instagram accounts

Compare nine accounts. Which clues make you want to check their reliability?

03 / MEMES

Memes and AI

Choose three AI-generated images. Think about how your decision differs from a guess.

04 / VIDEO

Self-image on social media

Watch the video and answer 11 questions about the image being created and its impact.

Your activity

Choose one of the four activities above.

A choice has a reason

After the activity, explain what determined your answer. What extra information would you need to be sure?

We do not store results in a personal account. If you switch activities or reload the page, you will start again.

Things to discuss afterwards

Which clue did you trust the most?

Did you rely on the image's appearance, account numbers or the content's source? One clue can help you start checking, but it is often not enough for a final conclusion.

What else could you check?

Look for earlier uses of the image, the account's history or the original version of the post. Compare the information with an independent source.

Using these activities in training?

Before showing the answers, ask participants to explain their choices. Discuss wrong answers too: which detail was misleading, and what evidence was missing?

The activity's answer describes the example in this set. When checking real online content, appearance or follower counts cannot replace checking the source and context.

Privacy and cookie policy

Privacy and cookie policy for the YouTHink media literacy activities page

Updated: 2026-10-17.

This policy applies to the four interactive activities on this page. It is based on the project exhibition page's policy, adapted to this page's functions.

1. Data controller

Informacinių technologijų institutas, VšĮ. Legal entity code 134927830. Address: K. Petrausko g. 26–117, LT-44156 Kaunas. Email: info@itinstitutas.lt. Phone: +370 618 46396.

2. Using activities and technical data

No registration is needed. The page's code does not send your answers, points or activity results to the project server, Google Analytics or a learning record store. Answers are held only in the open activity's memory. Switching activities or reloading the page deletes them.

To display and secure the website, the hosting provider may process your IP address, request time, requested page and file, technical browser information and server logs. The purpose is to operate the website, resolve faults and investigate incidents. The legal basis is legitimate interests under GDPR Article 6(1)(f), after assessing necessity and balancing interests. The project website uses Hostinger hosting under its data processing terms.

3. Optional Google Analytics analysis

We load Google Analytics (ID G-LL8V1YR3LY) only with your consent. Analytics runs only on the official youthink.itinstitutas.lt domain over HTTPS. It may record page views, visit sources, device information, approximate location, pseudonymous browser identifiers, the selected activity, restarts and clicks on the video activity load button. We do not send answers or points. Pseudonymous data is not completely anonymous. Consent is based on GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and applicable cookie requirements.

Google Signals and ad personalisation signals are disabled. The page address sent to analytics excludes URL query parameters and fragments. A button click does not confirm activity completion or video viewing.

4. Cookies and storing choices

RecordPurposeDuration
youthink_practice_consent in local storageRemember analytics consent or refusal6 months
_ga, _ga_LL8V1YR3LYGoogle Analytics visitor and session recognition, only with consentUp to 2 years, renewed when using the page

The analytics choice for this activities page is stored separately from the exhibition page's choice. Inaction or scrolling is not consent. Declining does not prevent you from using the activities.

You can change your choice in “Cookie settings”. Withdrawing consent stops analytics and removes Analytics cookies managed at this page's path, as far as technically possible. If analytics has already loaded, the page reloads, so your current activity progress will be lost. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing and does not automatically delete previously collected data.

5. YouTube in the interactive video

The media activity uses an external YouTube video. It does not load just by opening the page or selecting the activity description. The player loads only when you click “Load video activity” after reading the explanation. This choice is separate from analytics consent.

When the player loads, YouTube / Google receives technical connection data, including your IP address and browser information, and may use cookies or other identifiers under its own policy. If you are signed in to a Google account, the service may link the data to your account under its terms. Selecting “Turn off YouTube” or switching to another activity removes the player. This does not remove data already received by the third party or cookies it has set. You can do the other three activities without loading YouTube.

6. Service providers and data transfers

Google services in the EEA are generally provided by Google Ireland Limited. Under the service terms, data may also be processed outside the EEA using valid transfer mechanisms. More information: Google Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data protection. External websites have their own rules.

7. Retention and rights

Cookie durations are listed above. Analytics data retention also depends on the project account's settings. Technical logs and backups are retained for a limited time under hosting and security rules. Data related to a specific incident may be retained until its investigation and related legal matters are concluded.

Under applicable conditions, you may request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time. Not all rights apply to all data categories. Contact info@itinstitutas.lt. We usually respond within one month, subject to GDPR conditions and exceptions. You may also complain to the competent supervisory authority. In Lithuania: State Data Protection Inspectorate.
